Add a breathtaking slice of ancient ocean life to your collection with this
Polished Ammonite Fossil from Madagascar, dating back to the Cretaceous period (approx. 145–66 million years ago). Ammonites were extinct marine molluscs with coiled shells and tentacled bodies. Though their spiral shells resemble snails, they were in fact closer relatives to modern squid, octopuses, and cuttlefish (coleoids). Ammonites thrived in prehistoric seas for millions of years and evolved into a diverse array of shapes and sizes—some growing over 2 metres in diameter! This specimen has been expertly sliced and polished to reveal the fossil’s beautifully preserved internal chambers, which were once filled with gas or fluid to aid in buoyancy. These chambers now display stunning patterns and colours—each unique to the fossil. Geological Details:
• Name: Ammonite (sliced and polished)
• Age: Cretaceous (145–66 million years ago)
• Location: Madagascar
• Finish: Polished fossil slice showing interior structure
• Scale: Cube = 1cm – see photo for full sizing What You Will Receive:
• The exact specimen pictured
• A Certificate of Authenticity
• A rare, visually stunning fossil ideal for display or gifting ACTUAL AS SEEN: The image shows the EXACT fossil you will receive. It has been carefully hand-selected and photographed to ensure you know precisely what you're getting. While we aim to capture true-to-life colours, they may vary slightly depending on lighting conditions (sunlight vs indoor), monitors, or devices. Measurements are as accurate as possible, though fossil shapes can be irregular. Once this item is sold, we’ll update the listing with a new hand-picked item, complete with fresh photos and sizing.
