Unlike crystalline minerals, obsidian does not possess a defined crystal system because it cools too quickly for crystals to develop. Its primary composition is Silicon Dioxide (SiO₂), typically ranging between 70–75%, along with trace elements such as iron and magnesium.The distinctive “snowflake” patterns are not surface markings but internal crystalline inclusions known as cristobalite, a high-temperature polymorph of silica.
