LAPIS LAZULI HEART – NATURAL LAZURITE RICH MINERAL CARVINGThis Lapis Lazuli Heart is a genuine natural mineral carving shaped and polished
into a smooth heart form. The photograph shows the exact piece you will receive, carefully selected for its rich blue colour and attractive mineral pattern. Full sizing details are available in the listing photos. Your specimen includes a Certificate of Authenticity lifetime guarantee generic card, confirming it as an authentic natural mineral example. MINERAL TYPE & COMPOSITIONLapis Lazuli is a metamorphic rock composed primarily of lazurite, a complex sodium calcium aluminium silicate sulphide belonging to the feldspathoid group. Its approximate chemical formula is (Na,Ca)₈(AlSiO₄)₆(S,SO₄,Cl)₂. The deep blue colour that defines lapis lazuli is due to the presence of sulphur within the lazurite structure. In addition to lazurite, lapis lazuli commonly contains calcite (white veining) and pyrite (metallic gold flecks). The pyrite inclusions are iron sulphide crystals that create a natural sparkling contrast against the blue background. These mineral components formed together during metamorphism of limestone or marble under heat and pressure.Lapis lazuli has a Mohs hardness of approximately 5 to 5.5. It is generally opaque with a waxy to sub-vitreous lustre when polished. GEOLOGICAL FORMATIONLapis Lazuli forms through contact metamorphism when limestone is altered by heat and chemically active fluids associated with igneous intrusions. During this process, lazurite crystallises alongside calcite, pyrite, sodalite, and other associated minerals.Significant historic sources include Afghanistan’s Badakhshan region, which has supplied lapis for over 6,000 years. Other deposits occur in Chile, Russia, and parts of the United States. The specific matrix patterns and intensity of blue can vary depending on locality and mineral composition. The combination of lazurite, calcite, and pyrite creates the distinctive deep ultramarine colour often associated with high-quality material. HEART CARVING & FINISHThis specimen has been shaped into a heart, a timeless decorative form. The smooth polish enhances the stone’s natural colour contrast and highlights pyrite inclusions and calcite veining where present. The curved surface allows light to interact subtly with the mineral components, emphasising depth of colour and metallic flecks. Each lapis heart is unique in pattern distribution, with variations in blue tone and mineral inclusions reflecting its natural origin. PHYSICAL & VISUAL CHARACTERISTICSThe stone displays deep royal to ultramarine blue tones, potentially accented by gold-coloured pyrite specks and white calcite streaks. These natural inclusions confirm authenticity and contribute to the individuality of the piece.Surface polish is smooth and tactile, while the stone remains opaque. No artificial enhancements are implied unless otherwise stated; the piece is presented as a natural mineral carving. HISTORICAL & CULTURAL CONTEXTLapis Lazuli has been prized since antiquity for jewellery, carvings, amulets, and decorative objects. It was historically ground to produce ultramarine pigment used in art and manuscript illumination. In spiritual traditions, lapis lazuli is sometimes symbolically associated with wisdom and truth. These interpretations are cultural and belief-based rather than scientific. COLLECTORS DISPLAY & GIFTINGThis Lapis Lazuli Heart makes a distinctive addition to any mineral collection, decorative arrangement, or gift selection. Its bold blue colour and metallic inclusions create a striking visual presence suitable for display on shelves, desks, or in curated crystal collections. You will receive the exact specimen shown in the photographs, securely packaged and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity lifetime guarantee card. A genuine lapis lazuli heart carving, selected for colour, mineral composition, and craftsmanship.
