APOPHYLLITE CRYSTAL CLUSTER WITH STILBITE – DECCAN TRAPS, INDIA

This exceptional Apophyllite crystal cluster with Stilbite is a genuine natural
mineral specimen sourced from the renowned Deccan Traps of India, one of the world’s most famous mineral-producing regions. Carefully selected for its crystal quality and aesthetic balance, this piece showcases the classic association between sparkling Apophyllite crystals and contrasting Stilbite formations. The exact specimen shown in the photographs is the one you will receive.

Each crystal includes a Certificate of Authenticity lifetime guarantee card, confirming its genuine origin. Full sizing details are provided in the listing images for accurate scale reference.

MINERAL COMPOSITION AND CRYSTAL SPECIES

Apophyllite is a group of hydrated potassium calcium silicate minerals, commonly represented by fluorapophyllite-(K), with the chemical formula KCa₄Si₈O₂₀(F,OH)·8H₂O. It crystallises in the tetragonal system and is well known for forming sharp, well-defined prismatic crystals with square cross-sections and pyramidal terminations.

Stilbite belongs to the zeolite group and is a hydrated calcium sodium aluminium silicate. It typically forms in sheaf-like or bow-tie aggregates, often appearing as peach, cream, or pale pink clusters that complement the clarity of Apophyllite crystals.

CRYSTAL HABIT, CLARITY AND VISUAL APPEAL

The Apophyllite crystals in this specimen display their characteristic glassy lustre and high transparency, often appearing as colourless to slightly green or silvery tones depending on light and internal reflections. Their naturally terminated crystal faces create a reflective, almost mirror-like effect, making them highly desirable among collectors.

The Stilbite forms provide a soft contrast, with curved, fan-like aggregates that introduce texture and warmth to the specimen. This natural pairing creates a visually balanced composition, combining sharp geometric crystal forms with more organic structures.

Subtle inclusions, internal fractures, and growth zoning within the Apophyllite crystals are natural features that add depth and individuality to the piece.

GEOLOGICAL FORMATION AND DECCAN TRAPS ORIGIN

This specimen originates from the Deccan Traps, a vast volcanic province in western India formed during the late Cretaceous period. These basalt flows created extensive cavities and vesicles within the rock, which later became ideal environments for mineral formation.

Over time, mineral-rich hydrothermal fluids circulated through these cavities, depositing silica and other तत्वs that crystallised into Apophyllite and associated zeolites like Stilbite. The slow cooling and stable conditions allowed for the development of well-formed crystals with excellent clarity and structure.

The Deccan Traps are globally recognised for producing some of the finest Apophyllite and zeolite specimens, making pieces from this locality particularly sought after.

DISPLAY, COLLECTING AND AESTHETIC VALUE

• Classic Apophyllite and Stilbite mineral association

• High visual contrast between crystal forms and textures

• Ideal for mineral collectors, display cabinets, or interior décor

• A well-known locality specimen with strong collector appeal

Apophyllite has been traditionally associated with clarity and insight in spiritual contexts, while Stilbite is often linked with calm and gentle energy, though these associations remain cultural and symbolic rather than scientific.
